The Sunday Student Un- ion Meeting was by far the biggest farce the Student Union has yet produced. Be- sides being confusing, dis— organized, assinine, absurd it was just plain.silly! It was a disaster.

The meeting opened with what was suppose to be a ge— neral meeting for the stud- ent population. However, there were very few students present and far from a qu- orum so a student council meeting was held instead. There was a quorum oddly e—

nough, for this.

,The meeting was called ‘to order and the minutes of the last meeting were read and passed. The first ord— er of business? was the set- ting up of'a Bursury‘Commit— tee to give to students who had not made the Dean's List because they are too involv— ed with extra — curricular activities, a bursary of so— me sort. The five students on the committee are Donna McGaugh, Woozy MacDoanld, Yo Willis, Crystal Madill, and Marion White.

. The council then waste ed_a few minutes on the mo— ving of the S.U. officies. A raise for Clyde Bell? caretaker of the Barn, was then approved by coucil. He

thas been put in charge of

all cleaning of the Barn, to hire and fire when ne— cessary.

The liquor license for

' beer and wine has been gra—

nted to the Student Union for a probationary period of 60 days. The hours are

Speaker Ignores the Constution -Functions Ilnder His Own Rules

6 pm and 9 pm -12 am, and Friday or Saturday 9 purlZam. The three floors on the left hand side of the Barn are lisensed but the stairs be— tween the 1st and 2nd floors are not. Council spent a- bout 40 minutes discussing this. Why is anyone's guess!

The big winner of the evening was the Recommenda— tions of the Personall Board for the Personnell Board for next year. Sound confusing? It was very confusing.

There was a big discus— sion on whether or not nom— inations from the floor were to be accepted. There was a vote taken on this and it

was agreed that nominations should be taken from the

floor. Council, then, moved upstairs to room

209 and 2 minutes were spent on questioning the quorum. The constitution was produced and it was discovered that councifs ruling was out of order.

At no time is council al— lowed to take personell board recommendations into their own hands, which in effect means that there can be no nominations from the floor. Mr. Mills, the sp— eaker, then said that be— cause the constitution was contradictory that council could not follow it.

JO Ings challenged the chair and Mr. Mills ignored the challenge. A secret ballot was taken on the Per- sonell Board and 5 were el— ected from the nominations from the floor and those of the Personnell Board Board and the 5 which were elect— ed were from those recommend- ed by the Personnel Board. There was a-Vote to table the six names which was defeated.

‘ Two councillors left there was no quorum and the meeting disolved. There are a few suggestions which are in order for the next meeting. The first, and formost is that our speaker read up on procedures. Mo— tions are not necessary for
