While news comes from England that sheep are at a discount there, it will cheer our sheep farmers to know that the demand for mutton as an agreeable and cheap food ‘s steadily imecreasing on this side the Atlantic. The markets of New York alone require more than a million sheep'annually. Farmers, too, who once used only bacon and pork, are now becoming mutton eaters. The convenience of a few sheep on every farm to furnish the family with good, wholesome food, is now appreciated more than a few years since. Maritime farmers find a ready cash market for all the surplus mutton and wool they have to sell, and it is a fact, which is now only becoming generally known, that these Provinces are admirably adapted to sheep raising, while the quality of the meat is unsurpassed.

There can no longer be the slightest doubt as to this programme.
