Tragedy in New York.

New York, Oct. 18. J. Frank L 2e, well known in Nova Scotia and P. E. l-laud, during a fit of de- lirium, shot himself, a la ly named Amzslia Wright and a boy named Armstrong, at his residence 34 West Thirty-fourth Screet, New York, last Munday morning. He died yesterday in Bellevue Hospital. Miss Wright is in @ eritical condition, and Arm strong loses several fiigers off one hand.

The name of the ship ashore on Shog- warm Reef, off Montauk Point, is the Joseph. She hails from Maitland, N.S, and 1s commanded by Capt. Nichols and left New York on the 14*h, with a cargo of oil for London, Eogland. The crew have been taken off.

A truck wagon anda new sleigh, which were in the stable at the time of the fire were also burned. Mr. McCourt's loss isa very severe ons. There is no insur- ance whatever on the buildings It is be- lieved that the fire was deliberately s‘arted.
