About 100 people stood around the grave. About 500 had crowded into the church for a 25-minute service that began at 3.30 p.m. AST.

DELIVERS EULOGY

Rev. Dr. J. D. MacLeod, a col- lege friend of Dr. Smith and now president of the United Church Maritime conference, delivered the eulogy.

He described tie external af- fairs ‘minister as ‘a native son who has returned home.” Al- though born on Port Hood Island in Cape Breton, Mr. Smith came to Windsor as a boy. He grew up on his parents’ small farm at the edge of the town, about a half- ‘mile beyond the cemetery.

His death in Ottawa last Tues- day at the age.of 62 caused: ‘‘not only great national sorrow but sorrow to many nations,”’ Dr. Macleod said.

“He travelled far and climbed high. He carries with him the un- failing respect and good will of | all who knew him.”

CABINET MEMBER:

In Judge Sangster’s law office, Dr. Smith articled 38 years ago, after his graduation from Dalhousie Law School. About 150 people crowded into a Sunday school room in the church basement to hear the service over a public address sys- tem.

With were Dr. Smith's brother, Frank, Halifax and his sister, Mrs. Maude Morton of Three Mile Plains, near here. After the burial Mrs. Smith left to return to Ottawa, where she and her husband lived since

The regular meeting of the St. Peter's Junior A.Y\P.A. Lot 11 was held at the home of Miss Janette Banks.

Meeting opened with prayer by the president Janette Banks, fol- lowed by Psalm thirty-five. Scrip- ture peading was read by Glenn Hardy. Roli call was answered by a verse from the Bible.
