The young Duke of Marlborough is said to be about to marry Miss Darcy, the wealthy daughter of a wealthy Australian. The old Duke married Mre,. Hammersley, the wealthy widow of a wealthy American business man, and thereby wrought much good toan impoverished estate. If the suceession is rapid enough and the supply of heiresses does not fail, the glories of the house of Churchill will soon reach a height the original John might have envied.

The Toronto Globe speaks of the rise and progress of the P. P. A. as the fulfiil- ment of a prediction made afier the death of Sir John Macdonald that if Sir John Thompson were appointed Hremier there would be a mutiny of the ultra Protestants of the Conservative camp in Ontario. The Globe may not be exactly right in all its inferences, but it is probably as near the truth as some of its political news- paper friends who hold that the P. P. A is nothing but a Conservative organization to beat Sir Oliver Mowat.

1, “From and after the passing of this Act every casual trader not permanently residing inthis Province doing business within this Province, commonly known as “ Commercial Travellers,” and every person not permanent- ly residing in this Province, and who sells either for himself or any other person any goods, wares or merchandize in this Provinee, or solicits or canvasses tor orders either for himself or any other person for the sale, ex-
