At the regular monthly meetng of the Summerside Board oi Trade held last evening the problem of saving the large surplus crop ul potatoes in the Province was oi..- cussed.

A. R. Brennan heard from var- ious sources that there was some prospect that the dehydration plant would resume operations and felt that clue to the fact that there was a surplus of potatoes that it would be a good idea to reopen the plant. He felt that the government should take some steps to have operations resumed cr to provide a market for the dehydrated potatoes and thus take care of surplus crop. He could not see why it ls not e feasible proposition. A plant built" st such s cost should not be allowed to go into discard if any pressure could be brought to bear in the proper quarters.

Mr. Donald Baker pointed out that the plant in Surnmeraide was the only plant in the Maritime Provinces that could operate ei zbt time due to the fire which destroyed the others in our nelgh-_- boring provinces. -

Mr. Austin scales ssid that his company had foreseen the present conditions and had intentionally refrained from dismantling the machinery to dehydrate potatoes.

WASHINGTON. Nov. 6 -(AP)— Some labor leaders expressed the view today that sentiment for strike-co-rtrol legislation may be stronger in tho next congress.

They based this view on the gen- eral trend of the election results and the personalities of the catf- didates who won and those who were beaten. and not on the fact that the Republicans won control of the Senate and fiouse of Repre- sc-niotlvss.
