W ben the com pany becomes more familiar with the play, and it hes been cut down ip one or two places, “Soldiers of the Queen ” will, we eel sure, be greatly appreciated by the shea\ro~gaing public, The play deals witb the Boer-Britith war in South Africa, and has been wel! conceived by Mr. Bewley. [t bas its serious side and it« humorous side, (the latter predominat- ing jest pigbt) and there are several very exciipg *pectacular effects, notably the Spearman’s Hollow fight in which privates Harrie and Waye and a large contingent of the Engineers took part, Mr Bewley had the partof a Csnadian correspondent, and, with Miss Lillian Lawrence, who acted the part of ao [rich girl, furvisbed 1 ts of fun, although in tue bour of danger the newepaper men demonstrated bis ability to take a band in a “scrap” witb the best of them.
