Now that our snow ploughs are again in the struggle to keep roads open to traffic, the matter of mail boxes comes to the fore

While it is a fact that these boxes e no legal right to | dhe installed on a highway, it is recognised. that they do serve

| @ useful purpose and are indeed part of our rural way of life. . But what happens when show banks form on our road sides right where the boxes are usually placed? Obviously ft is not possible to move the snow at high speed and spare the boxes. If we go slow we ean avoid the boxes, but as we only raise the snow banks when we plough slowly, we are adding to our troubles instead of curing them |

If. we are going. to have open roads, they must be. ploughed @fficiently and_ that means as fast as the ploughs can safely “Operate.
