ment has been at a low ebb for the past few years. A revival is needed. A start by the big institu- tions will set the pace and be an object lesson to all educational institutions in the Province.

It is incumbent on teachers to look after the physical. as ivcll as the mental development of their pupils. Mens sans in corpora uno (Sound Mind in I Sound Body). has stood the test. of time since the Roman era - and no doubt from much farther brick in the an- nals of time.

It is hard to beat track and field competitions to promote friendly rivalry between individuals. col- leges, schools and even nations. The British Empire Games at Vancouver last summer was or notable example. The best of good felloivshlp and brotherly love pre- valled.

A reassiirlng feature of the situ- ation is that there seems to be a resurgence of interest in athletic games. There have been several sets of school games in country schools - also the 4H games at Exhibition Park and the Labor Day and provincial school games at Memorial Field. There are many big. strong young men - potential weight throwers -- who never had the facilities or social environment to enable them to become profici- ent lng-athletic games.

If greater Interest were taken by colleges .teiichcrs and the gen- eral public, our province could re- trieve its former prominent place in the annals of athletic endeavor. We should be able to send some entries to future B.E.G. and Olym- plc Games, If we concentrate and persevere.

Police llncover Suicide Pact

TORONTO. (OP) - Police nld Thursday they uncovered a suicide pact between Arnoldo DlMaulo, 23, and his if-year-old sweetheart.
