The chairman then read the resolution granting permission to build the drain or sewer in question. This resolutien, which passed at a meeting of the Cicy Council held on the 9th of August, 1886, reads as follows :—

Resolved, that the prayer of the petition of Messrs. Stirling & Harris, architects, on behalf af the Dominion Government, asking permission to open a drain from the uew Post Office on Queen Square, be granted, provided that said drain be opened to the channel of the Hillsborough River, in such a manner as not to cause a nuisance, and that the same be maintained and repaired when constracted by the Dominion Government.

After some discussion, the following reso- lution, moved by Mr. Eden and seconded by Mr. Taylor, was unanimously adopted :

Resolved, That Mr. W. C. Harris, the Do- minion Architect, be notified that the drain from the Dominion Building to the shore in front of Great George Street, is discharging toul water and filth above high-water mark instead of at the channel of Hillsborough River, and unless the nuisance is at once abated the Board of Health will issue orders to close up all the water;closets and urninals in the Dominion Building.

The Clerk was instructed to furnish Mr. Harris with a copy of this resolution forth- with.

Merry Wedding Bells.

The marriage of Dr. H. D. Johnson, one of Charlottetown’s most popular young medicos, to Miss Davina McLeod, eldest daughter of D. A. McLeod, Esq., Eldon, was quietly celebrated at the residence of the bride’s parents, yesterday forenoon. Miss Charlotte McNeill, of this city, was the bridesmaid, and the groom was sup- ported by Mr. Arthur 8. Johnson. The nuptial knot was tied by Rev. A. MeL. Sinclair. Shortly after the ceremony, the young couple left for the city, and in the afternoon took the train for Summerside which place they left this morning on a wedding trip to the provinces and the Unit- ed States. The Examiner joins with their many friends in wishing Mr. and Mrs. Johnson every happiness in life.

The New Coadjutor. Tue Rev. James Charles Macdonald, re- cently appointed Bishop of Irina and Coad- jutor to His Lordship Bishop McIntyre, is a son of John and Ellen Macdonald, and was born at Alisary, in the parish of St. Andrew, on the 15th July, 1840. He entered St. Dunstan’s College as a student in 1866, remaining there until 1870, when he went to Montreal, where he attended the Grand Seminary. On the 4th of July, 1873, he was ordained to the priesthood by the Bishop of Charlottetown, and at once pro- ceeded to St. Dunstan’s College as professor. In 1875 he was appointed to the Missions of St. James, Georgetown, and All Saints, Cardigan Bridge, and in 1876 St. Cuthbert’s Mission was “added to these, but two years later, in 1878, it was placed in the care of Rev. M. J. McMillan. In 188] the late Very Rev. Dr. Macdonald was associated with ‘‘Father Charles” in the care of the Missions of St. James and All Saints, to which the Mission of St. Paul’s, Sturgeon, was then added. However, in September, 1884, to the very great regret of his parishioners, ‘‘Father Charles” was re- moved from his charge and installed as Rector of St. Dunstan’s College, which position he still holds.
