The System to Be Put in Use in the Aleutian Islands.

_ SEATTLE, Wn., September 29. —Supere intendent H.S. Pitchett, of the United States coast and gecdetic survey announces that he will make a new and somewhat novel use of wireless telegraphy. Next season the United States steamer Path~- finder wiil go to Alaskar waters to survey the island of the Aleutian group nett Unimak Pass. The islands, Mr. Pitchea says, have not been correctly located on government charts and maps. The Path-- finder was built a yearago at Elizabeth aud equipped with the latest appliances and iastruments, including ®pparatus for the new system of telegraphy. Several

15 and 20 miles apart, near Unimak Pass, have been selected as afield for the use of the wireless telegraphy. By this means the difference in latitude of th- | islands will be determined :o a fine paint.

New Orteana, Ls, Sept, 29 —The British government chariered two big steamships yesterday in Liverpool, of the Elder~Dempster line, to sail for New Orleans and load mules, supplies, forage and teamsters for South African port. The first of the vessel will be due in this port October 4th or 5th, and the second a few days later. One will carry 700 mules, the ther 1200.
