The Rev Father McDonald, who is taking a leading part in the movement, was unavoidably absent owing to the death of his father. ihe meeting, however, was ably addressed by the Rev. Father Walker, of Rollo Bay, and others, all in tavor of commencing operations, now that the necessary amount of stock has been taken up and the milk of over four hundred.cows promised, at as early a date as; practicable. It ts not quite clear yet whether this and other proposed factoriea throughout ‘the country will recetve the same privileges and advantages from the Government as were granted to the une at New Perth last year’ There ares good many who think that all Island cheese factories should be reg irded as eXperimeutal ones, and treated a8 liberally by the Government as was the one at New Pérth at the start.

U. on Satar- day evening last, Mr. Fearon, principal of the Halifax Lostitntion for the Doaf and Dumb, and four of his pupils held a meet- ing of a most interesting character. Mr. Cuilen, teacher et Colville grammar schvoi occupied the chi. The hall was crowded, all three residetit clergymen of the place being present inthe audicnce. Mr. Fearon «ho appears to ‘be a worthy successor of his gifted predecessor, Princip.! Hutton, bagan his address by briefly reterring to deat mute education from its inception to the present day, describing the two systems, manual and oral, the latter of which is now being taught imall cases where the organs of speech are present. He showed by the pupils present, one of whom, Maurice Burke, 18 @ mative of Mitchell River, P.
