Quiex Worx.—The ship James Duncan arrived at Queenstown yesterday, in 16 days from this port. She arrived here at 10 p. nt, on the 9th ult. Since then she dis- charged 640 tons cargo, and loaded 57,840 bushels oats and 500 pieces deal, and made the passage to Queenstown—all in the short space of 29 days. There is, he said, much in the Holy Scrip- tures which is terrible; and nothing is: painted in stronger colors than the prophet-: ic descriptions of the Second Coming of our Lord. . A sure test of practical holiness is the feeling with which a person anticipates the approach of the Judge of all the earth. [f itis anticipated with trembling, all is not right. If with holy fear and joyful expecta- tion, the Christian may be sure that his’ name is written among those of the re- dsemed. The Old Testament abounds with: prophecies of a ‘‘ Coming” of the Messiah altogether different from the humility in which He cime as the Babe of Bethlehem.

price. But ‘the Second Coming will be when Christ comes to take His redeemed people Home. This is not a matter upon which Christians differ in opinion—it is a part of the faith of the Catholic Church. We all believe that then we shall be free from pain and death. We all believe that then our redemption will be complete and perfect—if “‘ we are found in him.” ‘* We must be found in them,” and in order to be found in them, we must grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This Advent season is the time to think of these things and to resolve afresh to be ready, when the time comes, to sing the Song —the Eternal Song—of the redeemed. ST. PETER’S.
