N. 5.. said that to maintain this “priceless heritage," individuals, world groups and nations must in- terprsu the privilege to provide for the well-being oi the whole.

Dr. Patterson discussed liberty from the standpoint oi the indiv- ' ldual. explaining how personality was created soclally. The individual enjoyed unrestricted personal liber- ty until he niiringed or came in contact with the liberties of oi-hers.

The University President snowed that the word “libci'ty" had many interpretations and exemplified h.s contcntlon wtth a number oi‘ illus- trations covering the political, indiv- idual ancl national fields. He point- ed out that in this "troubled world" liberty was the most important. her- itagc and ulcusscd its evolution \vh.ch commenced from childhood.
