A Fight in a Ship’s Hold

United States Consul Withers, stationed at Hong Kong, sends to the United States Department a thrilling extract from the log of the ship Granite State, of Portsmouth, N. H. It relates to the death of a Spanish sailor, Leon Salares, who was taken on at Munila and who was rebellious and troublesome from the first. The extract read as follows : “ After dinner called all hands to break

The Montreal police have unearthed a phenomenon. For the past six weeks
