Last evening Victoria Divi- sion, of the Sons of Temperance, of this city, experienced a very pleasant surprise trom some ef eur naval heroes, who were very cordially received. The visitors }Oined very heartily in the programme of theevening. ‘Pull for the Shore” and other weil known pieces were sang, and the meeting closed with the usual ode and cheers for ‘‘Our Visiting Friends.” We understand they have secured the use of the Division Room, and will, to- night, at 7.30, formaily open their Society in this city. Official Bulletin, 12.30 p. m.—The Presi- dent’s condition has not changed materially | since last Bulletin was issued, and there has been no further gastric disturbance.

Official Bulletin, 6.50 p. m.—The Presi- dent passed a comfortable day. He has taken his food with some relish, and had no return of irritability of the stomach re- ported in the morning bulletin. The paro- tid swelling continues to impreve and is now 30 far reduced that the contour of the face is restored. The wound shows no material change. The rise of tempera- ture this p. m. has very slight, but the pulse is more frequent throughout to day than yesterday, or the day before, and he showed more fatigue after dressing. Pulse 110 ; temperature 98 ; respiration 10.

It hasteen definitely decided to remove the President to Long Branch [between to- morrow and Wednesday if everything con- tinues favorable.

Blaine sent the fellowing cablegram to- night to Lewell, Minister at London : Last night the President did not rest well and twice during the night the stomach was so disturbed that he vemited. During to-day he has been better. The surgeons do not think he has lest ground but he cer- tainly has not gained since last night’s de- spatch.

A despatch, dated Tuesen, Sept. 4, says: The Star has just received the fellowing: Thomas, A. T., reports from the vicinity of Fort Apachas respecting the hostiles are confirmed. There are fresh arrivals of Indians runners, but no message from Major Coehrane or the troops sent to re- lieve him. Jn their attack on the post, the Indians were recklessly brave and defiant, one of them riding Gen. Carr’s horse into the parade ground wheeling and firing as he passed out. He isa brether of Cirina and is a Mexican captive among tae Apach- es. Troops are being hurried forward and strong reinforcements are needed. A re- port comes ia that in the attack on the post, a lieutenant and seven men were killed. If this is true, it was probably Lieut. Gor- doa of the sixth cavalry.
