We have just seen a description ofa beautiful emble- matic dance, which was produced for the first time at the iate ball of the ‘Turkish Ambassador in Paris, ‘The name of this néw dence is that of the Months; it seems to have excited great admiration. It was danced by twelve ladies and gentlemen who had prepared them- selves for the occasion. Monsieur A— danced January with Mademoiselle B— who danced April. January was dressed as a prince palatine and wrapped in asable. April wore a lilac crape dress with two skirts, the upper one looped up ata short spaces by bunches of lilacs; on her head she wore a wreath of violets. February wore a black velvet doublet slashed with flames, coloured gauze, cut in such a way as to represent flames, and on his breast the arms of the city of Havre, the Salamander which lives in the fire. His lady was May,a lovely young girl with a dress which seemed made entirely of butterflies’ wings, and whose fair forehead was covered with a wreth of thornless roses. March wore the dress of a farmer with a plough and rake embroidered on his beeast, and he danced with June, whose green silk dress

was trimmed with moss roges and little bunches of Tremain, James Anderson, Henry Stamper, Hewde-

strawberries. ‘The other dresses were equally beautiful and ingenious. September was dressed as a hunter with his game bag at his side. August was very beau- tifui asa young vine dresser, with her white dress trummed with bunches sf grapes, and her head wreathed with vine leaves. The general effect of the quadrille was charming, and the dancers were forced to keep on ‘heir feet all night to satisfy the admiration of the spec- tators,

A Nozsrie Horse.—Grant Thorburn says :—* I} once saw a horse in the neighbourhood of New York, drag- ing a load of coal, (twelve hundred weight,) in a cart. ‘(he land was very narrow—the driver, some distance behind, was conversing with a neighbour.
