The Supreme Court met today, Chief Justice Sullivan, Mr. Jastice Hodgson and Mr. Justice Fitzgerald on the bench. cases, after which the court adjvursed sine die:

James H. Watts vs. James Kennefic.—— This was an action on the sele of « horse in which defendant warranted his owner- ship, bot in which it turned ont that he had no title. The plaintiff sued on the warranty and the cece was tried last Hilary Term and verdict found for the plainuff an applica- | tion was then made for a new trial, The Court today unanimously refused a new trial and ordered the verdict to stand, bold- ing that @ person w..0 warrants his title to goods which in fact he does not own is lable for an action at the euit of the pur- chaser, immediately after the sale and that the pur:haser need not wait until his pos- se sion is disturbed by the real owner be:ore brin sing actio».

Successrut at Frepericron.—Messrs. Frahk and Fred Bayfield and Mr. Walter Brecken were among the successful -com- petitors in the Frecericton University sports on Queen’s Birthday. In the prize liet the name of Bayfield appears six times, and thet of Brecken twice. The Messrs. Bayfield are scons of Hiward Bay- field, Esq., and Mr. Brecken is a soa of the late Mr. Joseph R. Brecken.

Tue Ineve Morris.—The steamer Irene Morris, Captain Clark, now being loaded with oats forthe English market by Messrs Matheson and Toombs, wil) les ve this port for Souris on Friday evening. Bv the time she will leave Souris the Irene Morris will have upwards of 100,000 bushels on board. About 75,000 bushels will bs taken on board at Charlottetown and the remainder at Souris. The rapidity with whieh,the work of unloading and ‘loading the steamer at Charlottetown took place is worthy of note. The werk of lischarging be gan on Friday morning‘at n‘ne o’clock, and about 1609 tons of freight ‘was removed. Then the work of placing the cargo of oats on board began, and everything will be in readiness for her sailing on Friday eyening.

Rev. D. M. Macdonald, of Tignish, has gone.on an extended visit west. He crossed to Point du Chene in the Northumberland yesterday.

Captain John Gordon Sheriff, of No. 8 Co., 830d Batralion, kas been granted the brevet rank of Major under the provisions of para; raph 90, Regulations and Orders for the Militia, 1887.

Mr. J. Louis White, advance agent of the W.S. Harkins Company, is expected here tonight or tomorrow night. Mr. White was here with the “Crust of Society” Company some years ago.

Mrs. C. H. Heath, daughter of Mr David Rogers, Summerside, came on here last Wednesday evening to epend the summer. Her home now is in Portage La Prairie. - Pioneer.
