His subjects respectively will be ‘**English Stavesmen, Orators and Parties,” and ‘* The Cause of Ireland.” On his arrival at New York he said to a reporter: ‘ My lec- tures will be mainly on political topics, but they will not be partisan discussions on the questions that agitate England to-day. They will be rather explanatory of the English poli- ticai system, instructive rather than argumen- tative. There will be some topics, too, of a purely literary character. It is asa literary man that [came here. My visit has nothing whatever to do with politics.”

Porators.——-There continues to be a lib- eral supply of petatves and prices are unchanged. Eastern Hebrons command 53c, but very few Rose go over 50c. Sweets have been selling fairly at $1.59 and 32 per bri, and some Jersey extras go higher.

Eees.—There continues to be a good demand for fresh eggs and prices still fur- ther advanced. Eastern extras command 214 and 22c; Eastern firsts 2lc; and P. E. Island firsts 20} and 2le per doz. Cana- dian readily command 203c, and some run up to2Ilc. Best Western are selling at 20 to 20b¢.

Fisu Trape.—The market for mackerel sustains a firm tone, with a good demand for all offering from the Provinces and the fleet. Receipts last were 5,863 bris, of which 4,703 were from foreign ports and 1,163 from domestic sources. The fleet landed 7,298 brls against 8,598 brs fur the corresponding week last year. The total catch to date by the New England fleet is 58.557 bris, against 258,900 brls same time last year, and 319,698 bris in 1884. Sales of unculled from the Provinces at $11 to $12 per bri, and some late caught are held higher. Bay trips have been selling at from $13 to $14.50 per brl sea-packed, according to the lateness..of the catch. Inspected lots of Bay rule at $9.50 and $10
