As to Old Age Pensions, the Macmillan Government was the meanest of all the Governments of the Canadian Provinces in their Ipayments to its Old Age Pension- ors. The other Provinces paid a. maximum pension of $20.00 per month. it's maximum was $15.01. per month. It also made a bargain ivith the Bennett Govcmment to put a lien on all the real estate that might be owned by any old age pensiona- and that bargain cannot be changed unless the Fed- eral Governments consents to such a change. ‘Phe- Jones Gov- ernment in four years has in- creased the maximum Old 1‘.- Pension from $15.00 to $30.00 per month.

Co-operatives and to private individuals en- gaged in fish packing and fish buying, to help them get needed boats. engines, fishing gear and other fishermeifs supplies and the fact that a large proportion of the loans made this year were made to veterans of the last Great War. aze going to be regarded as much more than lip service by the peo- ple of Prince Edward Island or, at least by the great majority oi them. l feel that the fishermen of Luis island are going to say with rheir votes at the coming elec- iion that it was the MacMillan Government that gave them iaught but lip service and that he Campbell and also the Jones uovernment did make and Is. making an honest attempt to as- sist our fishermen in improving iheir conditions and in some meas- we assisting them financially and otherwise in coping with the hard- shill! and difficulties of their work as fishermen.
l think that the Hon. Marian Gallant who is a native of the great fishing centre oi’ Eunice and wvhere in his youth he was a fisherman and Dougald MacKin- non. also a fisherman for many years. know as much about fish- ing as any of the Conservative candidates or their leader. It is the policy of this Board as at present constituted. to assis’ fishermen in getting izirger boats and improved cquipmenirto build more fish houses, if needed-to urge on the Federal Government of more boat harbours and the building and repairing of piers for the fishermen to use in dress- ing their catches of fish for the fresh fish market or for saftinr: This policy is definite and I lee. sure the great majority of this Islands fishermen are going to vote Liberal at the coming elec- tion to have it put into effect, if the Jones Government stays in office.
Steamship Service
The declared policy of the Prom- Irr to Iiave a winter steamship service restored to the eastern end o‘ this island. ‘to run between Georgetown and Pictou, is a r.‘- Icy that everyone living east of Charlottetown should be glad to Iiear of. The restoring of this ser- vir-e would give the farmers and fishermen of this Island a shorter route to the Nova Scotia and other markets during the winter srason and their shipments would got to those markets in much less time.
