OTTAWA. Feb. 6—Canada'a ad- verse trading balance with the United states during 194'! reacbr ed $918,700,000 by Dec. 31, it was shown today in official figures re- leased by Trade Minister Howe.

Mr. Howe reported that. the ad- verse balance for December was 034,000,000, down sharply from the $80,000,000 total which had been reported for November. the month in which the Government launched its dollar-saving, ‘cro- gram.

With tho restrictive program presumably taking effect in Da- cember, imports from the U S. during that month loll by $33.- 000.000 while Canadian exports in- creased by 018900.000.

New Simplified Income Tax Forms llow Available

The new income tax forms, now available for those‘ employees earning 03.000 s yea-r or less, pro- vided they can answer eight. brief questions in the negative. are much simpler than the old form and can be fllled out. much quiokér and more easily.

‘The employer is asked by the Income Tax Department. to have the for-main the hands of his em- ployees by the end oi this month and the employee has until the last oi April in which to turn in his form.

In order to be entitled to use the new form. the employee must be able to state that he has only worked for one employer during i047. that he was emlplcyed the full l2 months, that his income from dividends and interest dur- ing i017 was no more than $109- that be received no other income. that he is not claiming for for- eign tax credits or for gifts i0 the Crown. and that he ll not making claim for other dependents than those described in section i,‘ item i. of COW 2. Should the employee be married. his wife or hes- huabsnd must not have ra- oeived an income o! more than $350 in i047.
