Jhe annexed is a summary of the news :—

“On the ih of October, the boiler of the steamer Sagamore exolod dl, just its ahe was forving ner wharf in San Fran- cisco for Stockton. It is said, by the editor of the Paeific News, that about peventy people were killed end wounded. The Junbs and other fragments of human bodies flew, mixed with pieces of the boat, in every direction, and were gather- ed uo in baskets. A gentleman told the above mentioned editor that he also saw two barrels filled with the fragments of bodies, heads, arms, legs and viscera. Most of the bodies recovered were so badly mutilated that that they couid mot be identified. A number of the wounded were conveyed to the hospital, where some of them died in the most excruc ating agony. The accident was eaused by the want of water in the boiler, through the oversight of the engi- neer. The clerk of the boa had his pockets full of gold and silver money, which he had collected of passengers before starting. His body was robbed of this, and such was the case in several ether instances.
