A despatch of the 8th inst., from St Paul, Minn., eays: Three hundred people assembled to-day on the scene of the Wilson-Cardiff fight. The ring was promptly formed for the $500 hard glove contest between Pat Killen, of Philadel- phie, and Joe Lannan, of P. E. Island. Th> tight was to a finish Marquis of Queens- bury rules. Killen was much livelier of the two mer and is provided with longer reach in the arms, but they were fairly matched as to physique, barring the fact that Killen is heavier. Lavnan forced the fighting from the first, against the advice of his wainer, and ex~ havsted himself in back blows at Killen, whote head was out of his reach, and who countered on Lannan’s neck and face, wounding him badly in the third round by a back hander across the throat. Up to this time Lannan had the better of the fizht. ‘The fighting was fast and furious, and both men showed signs of exhaustion, and only a chance biow could decide the
