'For the Island the snowstorm warning is continued” a radio voice said this morning.

"Now that doesn't appear to be itoo favorable. does it?" James commented. “So” he sigh-ed. reaching out for his cap to be off again to his chores “we may as Well get ready for it."

We put away the food. gathered the breakfast dishes to the sink by a window of the kitchen. and surveyed from there sky and field beyond. The morning was a quiet silvery gray. There was without doubt snow in the clouds which came down leadenly to touch the hills.

The prospect of a snowotorm occasions us no uneasiness on our own account. In fact we could thoroughly enjoy one if it were not that always thoughts go out to those who may be ill in. the farm - homes, or the wage- earncrs. the farmers and all who at times must be abroad in it. For living does not end-or even rest in a snowstorm. It contin- ues against the increased diffi ~ cully. .

We saw James carry a bale of bedding to an outpost of stable. Wes miled. lie was already "clos- ing hatches." The younger far - mcr set the tractor trailer in place before a stabledoor. Stalls would be cleaned.

And James came by then. “You'll have to encourage her to take so many paces around the deck" he chuckled. “Though” he nodded, “there's nothing bet- ter than a bit of work thrown in with it too." ’

The afternoon. . .then it was we saw the snowflakes fall into the gray. We saw the childrens' idle swing catch them. and in the branches above. the robin's emp- ty nest was being tenderly enfold- cd in white. Flakes embroidered. the youngsters‘ jackets when they came by on foot from school.
