Egmoni Bay Native Dies Al Monclon

The death occurred at his home at 99 ichurch Street. Moncton, N. 3.. early Saturday morning of Dr. Lawrence S. Doyle, V.S. l-la sue cumbed to a heart attack.

The late Dr. Doyle. a veterinary surgeon. was a native of this Province. and was born at Egrnont Bay. the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Doyle. For some time he practised here but moved to Moncton a .number of years ago where he resided up to the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife. the former Mary Murphy. daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy. Summeralde.

The remains will arrive in Summer-side this (Monday) even- ing by train. accompanied by his brother. Frank Doyle. and will rest at tho home of his brother- ln-law, Joseph E. Wood. from where the funeral will take place at ten o'clock on Wednesday morning to St. Paul's Church and cemetery.-S. A

Well Known S'side Man Dies

The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital on Friday of Mr. Maynard Lcfurgey. a well known citizen of Bummersidc. at the age of 85 years. He was the son of the late Alexander and Mary Lefurgey and was born at North Bedeque He was the last remaining member of the family of Alexander and Mary Lefurgey. With the exception of a short time spent in Vancou- ver. his life was spent in Summer- side where he was well and favor- ably kncwn. He was a great reader and a most intelligent conversa- tionlst. and during his life took a keen interest in political affairs.

The members of Hlghfield Women's Institute held their reg- ular monthly meeting on the even- ing of Friday. Feb. 9. at the home of the president. Mrs. Lemuel Macxinnon.

The meeting opened with the singing of the Ode. followed by re- peating the Creed in unlson..

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, and the rcll call was responded to by twenty members. Three visitors were also present. '

The treasurer. in her report. gave the total amount cleared dur- lng the past month. and stated that the balance on hand is 3206.19.

Reports -from the various com- mittees followed. The School com- mittee was authorized to pur- chase a pair of scissors and a ham- mer. The slck committee reported having sent four cards.

Those in charge of preparing a concert stated that plans were be- ing made to produce two one-act plays. The Hall committee report- ed having held weekly card par- ties and a concert and having pur- chased four dozen cups for use in the hall. The following were ap- pointed as members for next month: Mrs. Wallace Rodd. Mrs. Finley Macleod, Mrs. John Swelt- man and Mrs. Albert Weeks. It was decided at this time that only half the members supply lunch for the card parties each week. :

The president then displayed the quilt top which had been put together. and it was planned that seversl ladies should go to the home of Mrs. Otto Carnpbe" to complete the quilt.

It was moved and seconded that the group membership fee of 35.00 be sent to the 'Musical Festival As- sociation. and that the following should represent the Institute as members: Mrs. Lemuel Macxin- non. Mrs. John stockman, Mrs. Ralph Balderson. Mira. John Mac- Kllrmon and Mira. R-oland Sellick.

After some discussion, it was decided to ask Miss Robin to be- gin s Girl's Sewing Class. Miss Macxenaie and Mrs. Hammond Sanderson kindly consented to instruct these classes.

Mrs. Sydney Taylor and Mrs. Ralph Gay were appointed as delegates to attend the annual Red Cross dinner on Monday, Feb. 12.

Mrs. Ralph Bslderson invited the members to her home for the next meeting. when the lunch commit- tee will be as of last month. The meeting closed with "The King."

Lunch was served and a social time enjoyed.

The regular monthly meeting of the South Granville W. I. met at the home of Mrs. Wellington Maclnnis on Wednesday. Feb. 6. The president presided. The meet- ing opened by singing the ode and repeating the Collect. Roll call was responded to by six mem- bers. The minutes were read. ap- proved and signed.

Mrs. Wellington Maclnnia don- ated s1.li0 to the Institute to help with expenses. A bill of fifty cents was paid to Mrs. Maclnnis. The school committee reported islng glass needed for school stove. This was left over until the next meet- ing. The card committee reported one congratulation and one sym- pathy card sent out.

Meeting opened with the presid- ent in the chair and by singing the Institute Ode followed by repeating creed in unison.

Roll call was answered by sixteen members and six visitors giving a valentine verse. The institute was pleased to welcome one new mem- ber. Minutes of last meeting were read. approved and signed. The president thanked several members who had entertained atltheir homes during the month to raise money.

School committee had no report. Sick committee reported visiting several sick and bringing them treats. It was moved and seconded to send soc as share for delegates fare to course at Charlottetown.
