The Largest Electrie Locomotive,
Tbe underground railway for New York is co longer a question of doubt, since the rial lines are not suffi ‘ient, It is probable, however, that electric power will be used On it; and several detailed plans have been made out for the working of such asystem. Amongst these is a ne electric locomoti ve,
which has ac calle been constructed by
the Rhode Island Lecomotive Works, from the designe of Messrs E. M. Bentley and W.G Kaight. The gauge is that of ordiovry locomotives, six wheels being employed, each of 68 inches. Two electric motors are coupled to- gether and give a joint power of 500,- UG Watts, or nbout 670 horse power.
