ENVIRONMENTAL CALENDAR

Mar. 1 - The regular monthly-meeting of the Natural History Society will commence at 7:30 p.m. at the Farm Centre on University Avenue. Rachel Gautreau will speak on the results of the Piping Plover Research Project.

Mar. 4 — 5 — The Atlantic Watershed Improvement Conference "Establishing a Balance: Watershed Improvement in the 90’s" is being hosted at the Loyalist Inn in Summerside by the Tryon River Watershed Cooperative Association. There is a nominal registration fee which includes the banquet on March 4th and lunch on March 5. The agenda includes provincial summaries on watershed programs, establishing balances between various aquatic and terrestrial resources, impacts of insecticides, amphibians and reptiles, birds, etc. Contact Kate MacQuarrie at 566-0602 for further information.

Mar. 31 — If you like speaking one on one about conservation, the Island Nature Trust is holding a Piping Plover Guardian Workshop at their office at Ravenwood on the Agriculture Research Station off Mount Edward Road. Apr. 1 - This is the deadline for nominations for the Island Nature Trust’s Natural Areas Award

Apr. 5 - Glen Roberts will be the guest speaker for the regular monthly meeting of the Natural History Society which will commence 7:30 p.m. at the Farm Centre on University Avenue. Glen will speak on the spectacles of the night sky.

Apr. 7 — A workshop on climate change and its potential impact on Island agriculture and forests will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Howard Johnson’s Dutch Inn in North River. For more information contact Peter Lewis at 902-368-0210.

Apr. 22 — The Island Nature Trust's 10th Annual Fund Raising Dinner and

Auction will be held at the Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown.

Tickets are again $30 and can be obtained from Board members or from the

Trust at 566—9150. This is a great evening of fun and entertainment

which forms the mainstay of the Trust’s land purchase fund.

— This is the night for the member’s annual slide show. The meeting

will commence at 7:30 p.m. at the Farm Centre on University Avenue.
