The Misrion Band banner was“ron by Miss Mellish, from Cogaelectza Band, Charlottetown. Miss Arcanibald, of Mount Allison, gave an able and eloquent address on the need and benefit of miesionary work. Dr. Stewart spoke briefly, indorsing the society and urging its claime.

Lai te Rest.—The mortal remains of Mrs. McKenna, mother of Mr. James A. J. McK-~-noa, of Ottawa, were committed to the earih this morning, after funeral ser- vice? at St..Dunstau’s Cathedral. Mrs. McKenna has been il! for a long time. The pallbearers were Messrs. James Byrne, J. A. Griffith, H. C. McMillan, Dr, Kelly, Jos*ph McCarev and T. B. Riley, Mrs. McKenna was 68 years of age at the time of her death, and was deservediy esteemed by all who knew her.

Tue Moxras Recorp.— Daring the month of Séptember, ending yesterday, there were forty-two cases adjudicated upou by police Magistrate Haszard, Out of these forty-two cases thirty eight con- victions were secured as follows: 31 for drunkenness, 3 for violating the Lord’s Day Act,2 for assu!t, and one each for nuisance and deserving ship. Three assan]! cases and one nuisance case were dismissed. Six persons were sent up for trial in the Supreme Court. The total receipt amouat to $223.99.

Series or Lagcemies. — A series of larcenies have been perpetrated upon a weil known firm of grocers in this city, the loss on acgount of which mnst be consid- e:able. (2 The articles stolen have been: mostly flour aud sugar. A few days ago the matter was reported to the police, and they feundia partially filled barrel of sugar in the house of acertain colored citizen, the barrel bearing the pvame of the firm irom whom the sugar had been stolen. Yesterday forenooa a y.uog man ia the employ of the firm in question sent back word that he was ill and could not return to work, and he has not since been fen. This man-.bad access to the warehouse © which the firm kept their stock, and he and the colored man were intimate. It is said that the colored man has for some time past been selling flour and sugar at his residence.
