L'autre nuit encore les mal- fuiteurs se sout introduits par effraction dans une maison de King street habittee par un nommée Aarion Carpenter et sa famille, Mais les malfaiteurs é- taient à peine entrés dans la maison que le chien de M. Car- peuter sautait sur l’un d'eux et lui enlevait un morceau de ses pautalons. Les malfaiteurs se sont eufuis après avoir tiré plusieurs coups de revolver sur le chien, sans toutefois l’attein- dre.

De chez M. Carpenter, les vo- leurs sont allés chez G. Garrett Brown. ils ont chloroformé la plupart des pers)nnes qui se trouvaient dans la maison et se sont emparés de montres et d'ave petite somme d'argent Mais quand ils sont entrés dans Ja chambre de Brow, ceiui-ci s'est réveillé et les malfaiteurs se sont enfuis. M. Brown avait une somme importante dans sa chambre, et l’on a tout lieu de croire que les malfaiteurs le sa- valent.
