An article from a correspondent appeared in the issue of THe DatLy EXAMINER of April let, in regard to a trotnot held at clyde River on Wednesday, 30ch of March, in which the owner of one of the horges, Mr, Kitson is said to have issued the challenge and finwlly backed down after gathering a large crowd to see the sporta. Mr. Kitson called at the office of Tne EXAMINER on Tuesday and declared the article to be false in every particular, He said he never issued a challenge, but accepted the challenge sent to him. ft was not notified according to promise, on the morning of the 28:h March. As far as he was concerned he did not keep them waiting till five o'clock, aud the only horseman from the city was Mr. Henry Horne former owner of Masonic Pilot Another thing, the trot was to have been for mile heats, best three in five to harness, but the day of the race there was net a half mile of ice tit to have arace on. Srr,—In my last Jetter I took occasion to criticise the past management of the Charlottetown Driving Park from a breed- er’s standpoint, and as | promised to re- turn to the subject, I will now attempt to show the shareholders and the public in general how popular has been the manage- ment —financially.

From the above it will be seen that the revenue fell short~last year as compared with 1890, $1,586.26, while the ordinary expenditures (as per repor’) was greater by $909.26, which makes the management for the year behind $2,495.52. If the re- ceipte are taken under the different head- ings, it will be noticed that the Govern- men grant is about the only reliable re- venue the shareholders can count upon, and unless breeders and the public are bet- ter accommodated in the future than in the past, it, too, may ba uncertain,

Three Rivers Dairying Association

Professor Robertson arrived at New Perth by Saturday evening’s train and re- mained till Tuesday morning. On Monday he had an interview with the Association Committee, and made the final arrange- ments regarding his proposed dairy school. He also assisted in laying off the ground fur the site of the buildings. Ina the fore- noon he visited the district schuol, heard the pupils examined by their teacher in the elements of Agricultural Chemistry, ex- pressed his satisfaction at the progress evinced by their answers to questions on that subject, and concluded a very inter- esting hour by giving some excellent ad- vice to the young peuple under Mr. Weat’s tuition.

On Tuesday morning he left for Char- lottetown en route fur home, intending to visit Halfsx and Fredericton on his way.

Farmers Trading Association

As advertised, a second meeting of the farmers of Lower Montague and surrounding districts was held in the hall, which was attended by the Lower Montague farmera almost to a man—and a good many represena- tive farmers fiom neighboring districts, all seemingly alike interested in the success of the organizstion. G Aitken, Eaq., being called t» the chair and Mr. Martin, teacher, tppointed secretary, the chairman after a few ‘ppropriate remarks, and advocating the policy of the proposed Farmers’ Association, read over the constitution and bye-laws, and invited discussion thereon. The association then appointed as officers and directors, W. Meggat, president; Chas. McNeill, vice-presiden'; L. Poole, secretary; Jas. Poole, Capt. Howlett, S, Martin, G Wright, Thos, Daley, and M. Me. Kinnon, directors; 3. Aitken and G. Crede, doorkeepers.

Before appointing the directors and officers 4 discussion arose as to the expediency of postponing the appointments as some of the districts not yet organized might wish to have a ssy in their appo’ntment. But as a good many from neighboring districts were present they thought it best to organize at nce, ag there would be a chance at the ‘noual meeting on the first Thursday of July to change the officers and halt of the lirectors if wished.
