The University of Wa- terloo is helping to organize the upcoming “Great Cana- dian Solar Race” to be held on the Victoria Day Week- end, May 21, 1988 at On- tario Place, Toronto. This annual event is sponsored by the Solar Energy Society of Canada, Inc. (SESCI) with

support from Energy Mines

and Resources, Canada and the Ontario Ministry of En- ergy:

The competion is open to college and_ university (undergraduate and gradu- ate) students across Canada. There are two seperate com- petitions being planned.

Make a Child’s Christmas -Wish Come True

SOON THIS SEMESTER will be history. We'll all get a well deserved break from the agonies of

‘Academia’. It’ll be home for Christmas — Mom’s Turkey dinner, presents and perhaps a ‘spirit’ or two.

The Student Union wants you to have the SPIRIT and to share it with others, less fortunate than you. On Wednesday, November 25th, the Panther Lounge will give half the net sales for that night to the CFCY “Make

a Child’s Christmas Wish Come True.” How can you

help? FIRST — be.at the Panther Lounge on Novem- ber 25th; SECOND — ev- ery student who brings a gift for a child to the Student Union will recieve a Coupon redeemable at the Lounge on or before December 4h, (ex- cept on November 25th.)

These gifts need not be new — check your attics, there are probably old toys that are still good and can bring a smile to a child’s face.

We at the Student Union believe Christmas is a special time for children — please help us share the Spirit.
