Mostreat Oct. 2.—The Halifax sugar refinery has been lately shipping round lots of suger both to Boston and Chicago. As the rate by boat from Halifax to Boston is only 10 cents a barrel, that forms only a trifling obstacle and a correspondingly low rate has been obtained to Chicago. Both refineries in Montreal have been lately ex- porting sugar to the United Srates points The sugar trust of the United States has been unable to obtain all the beet neces- ssry to fill its orders, and this is the reason the Canadian refjoeries have been able to sell on the other side of the line.

Belcher, insurance agent and commission merchant, was thrown from his carriage by his horse run- ning away, and sustained a fracture of the ekul!l.
