Monday, January 21: Pre- sidential candidate Rodney K. Crook gives his public lecture at 8 p.m. in RL Lec— ture Theatre, on the general topic of “University Educa- tion in Canada Today”. Dr. Crook is presently Founda- tion Professor of Sociology at the University of Tasmania in Australia.

Tuesday, January 22: Dr. Crook (see Monday) meets informally with concerned students in the Panther Lounge at 9:15 am.

Tuesday, January 22: 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. Super Soup & French Bread Bar: A bowl of hot soup and fresh french bread, for 80 cents.

Bernardine Hall bUrsary

An award of $500 will be made in conjunction with other bursaries awarded from the Memorial Bursary Fund to an applicant who:

1) is a Junior or Senior female student living in Bernardine

Hall and has lived there for at least two years.

has an average of 70% or better in last semester’s work

writes a personal essay about what she has participated in

during her years in Bernardine Hall — i.e. how she has helped promote residence spirit. Selection will be made by the Scholarship and Awards

Applications must be received in the Registrar’s Office by February 8, 1985. Applications may be picked up either in the Registrar’s Office or in the Department of Student Services.

Extra! Wanted: one production manager for the newspaper, for this semester only. Salary: $40 per issue.

Duties: must be willing" to work with a Wednesday deadline (meaning long hours Tuesday afternoon and night).

— must design and coordinate layouts for the Gem, including the organization of layout staff.

—— must be familiar with or able to grasp rudiments of design such as balance, consistency, and attractiveness. ’

— some familiarity with photography is an asset.
