Bear Editor:

The cartoon, “Get it Off Your Chest” (The Cadre Novem- ber 2) depicting Jesus Christ carry- ing a cross with the caption “Drop that cross once more and you’re out of the parade,’ was offensive. This from the former St. Dunston’s Univer- sity. I’m surprised UPEI would run a cartoon of this nature in its news- paper. It’s a clear message of hatred of Christianity. I’m appalled at the editor’s lack of judgement for publishing it. The cartoon is a sad reality of today’s- society. It’s an ugly display of disre- spect and an ugly form of racism. Frankly, I’m fed up with religious jokes, is there anything sacred today?

you are appalled at the picture it paints

of society you are appalled at the society in 1972. Now as for my hatred of Christian- ity, well, Stella, I was raised a catho- lic boy, and I'm offended by your hurry to judgement. By the way this is not UPEI’s paper, it is the students’.

I thought I would just write this note to tell you how much I like the © Cadre. There have been too many negative letters and I thought a positive one might cheer you guys up! I don’t know why people complain so much. You guys put so much time and effort into putting out a newspaper and then you just get crapped all over. I love the “Fact & Opinion” and I was rather disappointed that there wasn’t one in last week’s

issue. I was also disappointed that you didn’t have any UPEI-related news. And the pictures were all so dark. And “The Cinephile” used the word “cinephotography” too much. Oh well, small matters... Keep up the good work!

There is enough intolerance in the world without some third-rate hack-job of a stu- dent newspaper making up people who have real problems that real - people have and then making fun of —
