Ar Sovris.—The Norweigian barque Fred is at Souris, with salt. When discharged, she will be towed to Pugwash, by the steam tug, thus savingtaking in ballast. Yesterday (Sunday), she flang out a large amount of bunting to the breeze, and looked exceedingly gay.

Trostisa Tea.—The tea at Tignish, on Wednesday last, netted some $1,700, (the gross receipts being $2,300,) the largest amount ever realized at ateaon the Island. There were between 5,000 and 6,000, people on the grounds during the day. The pro- ceeds are tobe devuted to tne interior decorat- ion of the chapel at Tiguish.

Last week's fishing was unsatisfactory, both to seiners and hook and liners.

E. Hamm, the father of the oarsman, is also on board. A hale and hearty old man is he, proud of his sons and fond of the sea.

Terrible Murder. Monrreat, July 21.
For some time ‘past there has been bad blood between Napoleon Michael and his brother-in-law, Jeremiah LaMontagne, who lived at Wolfstone, Quebec. Late last night the latter went to Michael's house, and without warning shot him three times, each bullet taking effect in his neck. Thinking Michael was dead LaMontagne carried him to a bed in the house, soaked the mattress with coal and oil, and set fire to the cot. Ina few moments Michael re-
turned to consciousness and not- withstanding his horrible wounds, was able to throw himself off the burning bed and crawl out of
the house where the sight of the fire had attracted a crowd of neighbors. A priest was immediately called, who, after administering the last rites of the church, received from Michel a declaration of the facts of the case. LaMontagne has fled:from the neighbor- hood or he would be lynched.

Emperor William's Visit.
St. Pererssurc, July 22.
The German Imperial visitors attended Lutherian service this morning and after- wards accompanied the Czar and Czarina to the castle chapel, where {service was. held according to the Russian liturgy. Splendid chorals were rendered by the court singers. The departure of the German Imperial party 1s postponed until Tuesday morning. An official messenger says that in proposing the health of the Emperor William at Kras- noezlo, the Czar included in the toast, ** His glorious army.”

Fatal Railway Collision,
Lyncusrure, Va., July 21.
A collision on the N. & W. Railway this morning, eight miles above the city, be- tween freight and material trains, killed both engineers, one fireman and five men in the crew. Both engines and seven cars were demolished. Loss $100,000.
The Moons Eclipse. New York, July 23.
The total eclipse of the moon was seen from this city under favorable circum- stances, and satisfactory observations were made by the astronomers at Columbia College, The sky was cloudless through- out.
Strange. Rocuester, N. Y., July 23. On Saturday evening Prof. Main secured some photographs in which an object sup- posed to be a satellite was again caught by the camera.

Rev. B. B. Keefer, of Toronto, preached an excellent sermon in Prince Street Methodist Church yesterday forenoon, and another in Zion Church in the evening. He will deliver a lecture in Y. M. C. A. Hall this evening, on a very interesting topic. Mr. Keefer is accompanied to Charlotte town by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Starr Keefer, who is well known in the Upper Provinces and the United States as an accomplished journalist and lecturer. An exchange, com- menting upon one of her lectures, says: ** Mrs, Keeler entertained her audience as few audiences are entertained, and sent them home to think as they had never thought before.” Another paper says that she has ‘‘gained high honors upon the public plat- form, being freely accorded by the Christian Union of New York to rank next to Miss Willard as an effective speaker.” It is pos- sible that Mrs. Keefer will deliver one of her lectures in Charlottetown.
