by Mickey Place V As they were riding on the crust of an extended winning streak of one game, we were right on hand last week as the Lady Panthers' Field Hockey team took on Mount A. at McAdam Field. Having so easily become ' ‘ accustomed to winning, our girls appeared quite disappointed with the scoreless tie and, much to our disappointment, there was nothing re— sembling a repitition of their enthusiastic and outward display of affection that had so marked their previous effort. Subsequently, in a return match at Mount A. they succumbed 1—0 and thus lost the glimmer of hope they had entertained for a playoff spot. This week— end, they play hostess to league-leading U.N. B. (9-0) and have high hopes of salvaging a game. Seems like a female version of David & Goliath, but Guardian colcmnist, Donny Morrison, at the start of the sea- son, prophesied two wins this year for UPEI and they'll try to make that pudgy pundit's words come true. In Horse Racing, Sophomore, John Cheverie won the Provincial Inter- collegiate Harness driving Championship over four other UPEI's and a Holland College entrant over a slow track in the res- pectable time of 2.14.3. He will now represent the Province in, the National Championship on .ov. 2nd at Jocquirre, Que. We wish him luck and hope the championship returns to P.E.I. where, we have ccme to. feel, it belongs.
