The championship plowing ev- er.t will be held today and is open only to first; and second place prize winners in the tractor two and three sod competitions for this and the prevoius years. The win- ners will be eligible to compete in the Esso Tractor Class at the In- iernational Plowing Match in On- tario. The Provincial Plowing Match Association will contribute :50 to help cover the expenses of the winner of this class to the in- ternational meet. it was announ- ced yesterday by Mr. Leslie Hun- l.er, Association President.

The annual meeting of the Souris Hospital was held in the Town Hall on Thursday night. September 20th. The president. R. C. MacI..ean. presided and the secretary, M.J. MncQuaid, read the minutes of the last meeting and the financial statement, which were approved as read.

A nominating committee con- sisting of W. W. Haynes, W. S. Mclntyre. Reid Underhay. and J. H Brennan were appointed by the president to submit a listovf names for directors for the coming year.

The slate submitted by the com- mittee was as follows: Bernard Massey. W. S. Mclntyre. W. A. Ryan. Peter Mclnnis. Chesteri Me- Gaugh. Neil Maccormack. R. L. Burge. Raymond MacDonald. Ed- win Reid, Clifford Peters, R. C. MacLean. M. J. McQuaid, B. R. Stewart, and G. R. Lenrd.

Considerable discussion took place regarding the construction of an annex to the Hospital and it was decided to leave this matter for another year.

Mrs. J. A. Paquet. president of the Ladies' Auxiliary. reported that they had raised the sum of siti00.28 duriiig the past year and had a cash balance of 3843 26 at the present time.

A discussion on the present rates of the Hospital then took place with the following speakers taking part: Mrs. Adrian Mclnnis. Rev. W B. F. Corcltum. Dr. A. A. Mne- Donald. Chester McGaugh. Geddie Coffin and Edwin Reid.

It was the general opinion that the rates should be increased with the amount of increase left to the Board to decide. The net debt of the Hospital at the present time is s.'),l)0tl.tltl. The debt has been re- riuced from si:'i.(lli0 since Septem- ber l9-i5.
