They had eight races and there was always four or five well filled classes. Years ago he raced horses and now he is one of our top dairy farmers. profiucinzz hundreds of pounds of milk daily and he is also a breeder of potentially fast trotters and pac- nrs. Friday morning Maisie Bud- IOIIS. by Calumet Budlong. dropped a beautiful foal sired by Kalmuck 2 155 by Peter the Great. Kalmuck slrcri this filly when he was 32 years old. He recently died at the age of 33 years. Four more foals arc cape:-ted to arrive this season. Peter had shown good speed and stamina iii the races he took part in although he was somewhat of a hard going ti-otter hilt a determined one. so Murphy, an astute judge of speed. I)CIIOl'CfI he was the kind of a horse to come through a. hard seasons canipaign. His judgment proved correct. His coast to coast campaign in 1915 made him the leading money winning trotting stallion up to that time. He started in eight- een stakc races and won seven- teen. His sole loss was to Lee Ax- worihy. His total earnings that year reached over 350,000.

The two-year reign'of the Happy ' Gang in iadies' bowling circles in Eummerside came to an end Thurs-I day night at the Capitol Bowling Alleys, the Lucky Five defeating; the -194'!-48 and 1948-40 champions by the small margin of 54 pins. The Lucky Five led in the first night's play by 196 pins. The Happy Gang cut their lead in each game of the second three but not en- ough to overcome the edge the Lucky gals had set up the initial evening of play. 15th Pack Parkdale Brownies

Results of ihe seasons work wcrc demonstrated on Tuesday when many Brownies passed sections of the Golden Bar and Golden Hand tests. Joycciyn Stewart. and Dianne Dixon had been working hard on the G. Hand and passed some of the test while Brownies, Maritnc Gregory, and Penny Warren suc- cessfully completed the G. Bar. Carol Hogan. Barbara Williams and Gwen O'Brien have almost passed the G. Bar but just have one or two more to complete. Everyone worked so hard on test work that it was not a regular Brownie pro- gramme but there was no lack of enthusiasm. Brownies wanted to know how soon they could pass some more tesis so anoihcr Tucs- day had to be rcscrvtd by the Field Secretary for the Parkdaic Brown- ies. This Pack has made tremen- dous progrcss this year and all the- litiie girls are just as keen and

enthusiastic as when they started.
