fer St. Laurent went to Bucking- ham Palace Monday and invited the Queen to visit Canada in I959.

That is the year of the proposed opening of the St. Lawrence sea- way. Canada wants to make the opening a great occasion and it is likely the next president of the United States will also be invited.

if the Queen accepts the invi- tation, the hances are she would make a coast-to-coast tour. Royal visits are fairly rare and there is always great pressure on Ottawa to have the visitor stop at as many Canadian cities as possible.

In a chat with Canadian rewri- on this morning.Prime Min tor St. Laurent said it seemed un- likely that the Queen would come over for the opening and then go straight home, without seeing any other parts of Canada.

Death Monday Of Naval Officer

PORTSMOUTH. N.I-I. (AP)- Fleet Admiral West Joseph King. 77. who during the Second World War became the first offi- cer to serve simultaneously as commander-in-chief of the U.S. fleet and chief of naval opera- tions-died Monday in Parts- mouth lfospital after many years of failing health.
