Tur witefof Mr. . Patrick Brenan, carpen- ter, died very suddenly at her residence in this city on Saturday. At 12 o’clock shie was engaged at her household duties when she suddenly became afflicted with a rush of blood to her ‘head, and expired from its effects shortly after one o'clock, Mrs. Brennan was @ woman of exemplary character and des ervedly respected by all who knew her.

We learn that Henry Longworth, Esq— whose name is so widely and creditably known in connection with the importation of improved breeds of sheep—has obtained three splendid pure bred rams from among the best flocks of Ontario. They are of the Cotswold, Shropshire aud South-down breeds, and are well worth seeing. This Island is better ad- apted to sheep than to almost any other farm animal; and we are glad that Mr. Lorgworth has taken the lead in improving them, and thus opening the way toa lucrative export trade.

Un Satarday evening, a horse that had seen better days, was led by its master to the out- skirts of the city. They walked at a funeral- like pace—-a melancholy looking pair. Arriv- ing at the north end, the sorrowful looking quadruped stopped as though the order of eeremony required it, and falling on its side, stretched at length and gave up the ghost without a sigh save that of a hovering crow which had long been watching for a meal off the once noble animal’s lean and lanky carcass. As the eo ¢ animal fell it was deserted by its unfaithful master, who allowed the carcass to remain a nuisance to the neighborhood until to-day, when the officers of the law compelled him to give it a decent burial.
