pany report that in their recent sale autumn haze stewarts were 99 per cent sold and were quoted at 10 per cent up with females very firm. Autumn haze regulars were 9i per cent sold. priced were quoted as firm and top males brought 843.50. and the top fe- males bundle sold for 324. Autumn haze is not one of the principal trimming furs but will be seen to a certain extent as an edging on cloth coats and suits this fall. Fur trimmings will become an even more important item in the fall fashion picture.

A display booth on the fifth floor of the furniture department in Tor- onto. showed a chesterfield uphol- stered in damask with some fifty yards of mink trim. it was manu- factured by Cooper Bros. Ltd.. and Willis for 31.000. The above is something new in a use for mink fur and if it continues will help the industry very considerably. DEM!-BUFF MINK

Continuing our reports of the late New York Auction Company's sale we Tind that prices were re- ported to be strong compared to recent market levels. Some par- ties said the salc "was marvellous with good foreign competltion." Demi-buff mink was a hot item. The top males brought W) and top females went to 320. The wild mink didn't fare so Wt'll. the bulk of the collection of 22.000 being withdrawn. Both Fxiropean and A- merican buyers found the demi- buff collection attractive. Italy. England and France all took away goods but the largest share went to the United States.

One of the reasons that this type is going strong is that there is such a small quantity of the color produced and the pelts arc gener- ally large so that the demi-buff are most adaptable for use in stoles and consequently fitted in- to what is considered a trend to smaller pieces. United States has shown little interest in wild mink this season. On the other hand Eur- ope is interested in wild mink but wants only fresh goods.

Easter Service At Murray River

The ranch- crs who will produce the new color have trade marked it under the name of CAMEO. This mink was formerly called Citation. They have pointed out that when Cameo is compared to all the other mink in the brown class it fails to fit in with any of the many mink in that category. They also coni- parcd it with other classes and claim that it is truly new and dis- tinct mink color and some of them believe it is the finest ever pro- duccd. They believe there will be no appreciable qiiantitlcs for sev- eral years. and when breeding stock is sold licences for the use of the trade mark CAMEO will be given. Under this arrangement the Cameo trade mark will be reserv- ed for the exclusive use of those who are producing the genuine Cameo mink.

Lowered pelt prices early this season have caused ranchers to become concerned about the high feed costs. This is only natural as feed and wages are the prin- cipal costs in fur farming. The trend the coming season will be an attempt by every rancher to reduce his feed costs. It will be a very difficult thing to do as most everyone has been following along that trend for several years. One thing that must be guarded against is a lowering in the quality of the feed or thcyleaving out of any in- grcdient that will add to the per- fectness of the feed in the pro- duction of a good pelt. Quality is so important today that every item
