Bay Fortune, United Church was the scene of a lovely mili- tary wedding recently when Gloria Verva. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McAteer of Prince Albert. Sask. became the bride of John Albert. youngest son of Mrs. Marion Mitchell and the late Ivan S. Mitchell of For- tune Bridge. P.E.I.

Th church was decorated with baskets of fall flowers and the guest pews were marked by satin bows.

The double ring ceremony was perform by Rev. Elton Adams. The organ st was Mrs. V. Leigh Dingwell and the soloist Mr. Lloyd Martin of Orwell sang “The Wedding Prayer" prior to

Mrs. MacAteer who flew to the Island for her daughter's wed- ding. chose a clove grey brocade two piece dress with royal blue accessories and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses; while Mrs. Mitchell mother of the groom. wore a two piece teal blue brocaded dress with mat- ching marlbou hat and beige ac- cessories. Her corsage was of bronze roses.

Following the ceremony in re- ception was held at the Fortune Bridge hall for 125 guests. The bridal party were seated at the head table. which was centered with a three-tier wedding cake made by Mrs. Vernon Davidson and decorated by Mrs. Sterling Burke. The cake was flanked by white tapers in crystal holders and bouquets of fall flowers. A bouquet of mixed roses complet- ed the arrangement.

The toast to the bride was proposed by Mr. W.C. MacLeod and responded to by the groom. A telegram from the bride’s fa- ther. brothers and sister and other relatives in Prince Al- bert and a n o t h e r from the groom's uncle. H.W. MacHen- drick and family of Glasgow. Scotland were read by the best

man.

The buffet luncheon was ca- tered to and served by the For- tune Bridge Women's Institute. Presiding at the tea and coffee urns were Mrs. Russell Farqu- harson of Bunbury and Mrs. Ed- son H. Cook of Parkdale. In charge of the guest book was Mrs. Harry H. Cook. also of Parkdale.

For going away the bride tra- velled in a beige brocaded dress with matching hat and gloves and a corsage of yellow roses. After a brief honeymoon on the island. they returned to Chath- am N.B.
