At the beginning of the 1994-95 year, a new execu- tive was elected for the Music Society. This execu- tive includes:

Shelley Griffin (President), Julie Mills (Public Relations), Anne-Marie Archibald (Secretary), Bobbie-Sue Roach (Treasurer), Leanne Ryan (Schol- arship Chairperson), and Kenny VanEwyk (First Year Representative).

Our first job was to make the first year students feel welcomed with a series of initiation games during our annual September Welcome- Back Party. Fun was had by all!

Our next project was a car wash. Those who helped out were very wet by the time it was all over. Special thanks to Shelley, Leanne, Bobbie-Sue, Anne-Marie, Claire and Erin for all their help. We raised over $140.00 with this venture and we had a lot of laughs doing it.

Our next event is the Haunted House, back for its second year. It will be held on Oct. 27, 1994 at the Music Department. Stay tuned for special announcements around campus.

Anyone interested in organizing Senior Class ac- tivities for the year are asked to contact the Student Union. The positions available are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. These people will be responsible for any fund-raising activities or events throughout the year ending with Senior Week and Convocation. University Chaplaincy Centre VOLUNTEER MINISTRY

The following opportunities exist for our Christian community, here at UPEI, to be of service to the greater community:

1. FOOD BANK:

Helping with loading, unloading food stuffs, stock- ing shelves, boxing and bagging supplies. Open each day; help especially required at Christmas and after Food Drives.

2. Queen ElizabethHospital:

Front desk and reception work, assisting personnel in some departments such as Pediatrics with super- vision, entertaining children, tutoring hospitalized students, running errands, answering phones, etc. Contact person -- Nora Jenkins, 566-6003

3. Prince Edward Home:

Visiting elderly, entertaining, assisting elderly with reading, walking, writing, running errands, etc. Contact person -- Jo-Ann Clow, 368-4440

4. Beachgrove Nursing Home:

Same work as for above nursing home, as well as assisting with Bingo, card games, etc.

5. Sleepy Hollow Correctional Centre:

Working with the program and tutoring coordinator

to assist inmates with upgrading their educational -

and grad skills.

W.U.S.C. Meeting

A World University Service of Canada (WUSC) meeting will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 2:30 in Robertson Library 109.

All students interested in international travel and work opportunities are invited to attend.

_ Information on a work/study program to be held

next summer in Vietnam as well as other foreign work opportunities will be discussed.

The UPEI WUSC Committee will also hear about the recent National WUSC Annual General Meeting held in Ottawa from UPEI del- egates Glenn Pound and Fidel Murphy. A proposal

for UPEI to host a student eonference on the theme © of intellectual freedom will also be discussed. Al students interested in these and other international opportunities are urged to attend or if unable to do so, leave your name and phone number with the local committee.
