Such was the pathetic . letter hurriedly scrawled in a memorandem ‘book which was taken from the body of a man about 65 years of age, who was fonnd dead in his bed in the cheap lodging housé,"No. 341. West-street, yesterday morning. ‘The proprietor, of the lodging hodse, John Weisinger, reports that ?#e mat arrived there on Tuesday last, gave his name as David Miller, of Manitoba, and siated that he interded to take the next out- going Cunard steamer for England. The next day he reported that he had lost his passage tickets by the line, and had been ta the office: of the Company, where- after reporting his loss, he was told that they did not know him and could do nothing for him. He placed his trunk in the custody of Mr. Weisinger as secur- ity for his lodging, and took his'-meuls in the restaurant on the floor below. © Saturday night he went to a room which two other lodgers slept,’ and re- tired to rest.
