For the effort made on behalf of the hospital, Mrs. Stewart ex- pressed sinccre appreciation to those in the Department of Health, and to residents of various districts who had made it possible to obtain the new hospital equipment.

Dr. Bonnell, Minister of Health. accompanied by Dr. 0. H. Curtis. Deputy Minister of Health, made the formal presentation of the in- cubator and the croupette to the matron, Mrs. Lldstone.

He paid special tribute to the work of the general practitioner- the family doctor - and pointed out the important role he ust play in the life of a community.

He complimented the district on their initiative and the results of their ombined efforts, and ex- pressed an encouraging opinion that hospit costs. within a few years would free, but in caution- ing that nothing was really free. implied that the costs would be borne collectively or indirectly.

In underscoring the importance and value of the Stew- art Memorial, which he said was a fitting tribute to the memory of the late Dr. Stewart, he recalled that of more than fifty funerals performed during his residcn c there some years ago, about one half the deaths resulting from a flu epidemic in days when nearby hospital service was not available.

The Stewart Meorial Hospital. an attractive two-storey building located in a quiet, beautiful locat- ion at Tyne Valley. contains 11 beds. six basinettes. and has a clean, well equipped operating room.

The staff doctor is Dr. T. E. Robinson. and there are four full time nurses in addition to relief nurses called when necessary.

Despite rain and chilling winds. seven R. C A. F. truck drivers competed yesterday in the Marl- time Air Command truck roadeo at R. C. A. F Station Summerside. Lac. Bob Enman of Victoria West. P. E. I, representing R. C A. F. station Snmmerslde placed first completing the intricate obstacle course with a score of 314 points out of a possible 400.

The roadco consisted of mane- ouvering a three-ton covered stake truck through an intricate obstac- le course. at the same time observ- ing all safety rules including hand signals. in a time limit of eight minutes.

Lac. Bob Enman. this year's Maritime Air Command champion has been in the R. C. A. F for two years and has driven for ap- proximately ten. His home town is Victoria West. P. E 1 He is married and resides with his wife and one child in the town of Sum- merside. Bob placed first in the competition held at Summeraide: during August. and third in last year's Command finals.

Record Expenditure On New 1957 Ford Vehicles

DETROIT (AP) - The Ford Motor Co. disclosed today that it has spent a record szo9.ooo.ooo and 2,000,000 engineering man-hours to bring out its entirely new 1957 Ford cars.

The figures were disclosed in connection with a press preview of the new line today. The new cars will be shown in Ford dealer- ships across the Unlted States the first week in October. -

The price tags Ford and Chev-. rolct put on their new cars will be important to the industry's over-all prosperity. The combined output of the Ford Division and Chevrolet represents approximat- ely 50 per cent of the industry's over-all American production.
