Three to one favorites before the battle, Hawks failed to gain that much advantage in the game. Play- ing a Tiger team that was hard- hit by injuries they were back checked to a standstill in the first period. They outplayed Tigers in the second and third periods but were unable to take advantage oi Tiger penalties until the final frame.

Fred Radke. Tiger defence man. was serving part of s penalty left ovcr from the second period when James got the Maritime champions first goal and Howard Wits serving s. penalty incurred in the last min-' ute of the game when Webster scored the second Moxicton counter.

Penalties left Moncton short handed during the third period and both teams had the same trouble during the second. The game was a hard-hitting affair from the

tripping did not enter into it until the middle frame. Radke served three penalties during that smion. Stove Conick made the Tiger total right minutes and Len Burrow. Bill Gill and Knuckcr Irvine oi the Hawks were on the sidelines for minors. Gill served two penalties during the third and Bur-riﬂe. Passing Attacks

Hawks‘ passing attack; gave them an advantage in that deport- ment oi the game but forwards oi neither team were able to get go- ing on goalward rushes that got anywhere. Both teams seemed more intent on keeping the score dowm than tnlung an advantage until they both opened up wide in the third period.

While Hawks failed to get goals tonight they always seemed to have plenty in reserve while Tigu-s were hard pressed most of the evening. They went inw the game without Rod Farrell, their star defence man, who injured a shin in the Ot-
