Pink Floyd never ceases How can one

group come up with’such/ intricate,_satisfying songs; albumjafter album? Animals contains four more instant_ Pink Floyd Classics, making it a suitable follow-up to Dark Side Of the Moon and Wish You Were Here . 7 Animals begins with "Pigs on A Wing (Part One)", a haunting acoustical track / that sounds much like the

song,

"Wish You Were Here".

Part two of the song closes out the album on

side two.‘

The other song

on side one is entitled 'Dogs", a song that varies in moods both musically

and lyrically.

As in the

past, Pink Floyd never gives us a dull moment on this fifteen-minute plus track.

Side two starts off

with "Pigs (Three Dif—

ferent Ones)" and is one heavier rock songs Pink Floyd has cut in recent

years.

"Sheep" is my

favourite of the album. It contians some of the most perverted lyrics I've read and I won't spoil it

Without a doubt, Pink Floyd is the number one band in their field of Space rock. They only strengthen that position with each talbum, and Animals leaves .all the competition in 'another galaxy.

(* * *) FLOWING FREE FOREVER— :MICHAEL MURPHY (EPIC RECORDS)‘

Micheal Murphy has al— ways produced fine music and some of the material on this album is up to what rI've come to expect from him. When he leans too far into the realm of country music he loses me ; but theree are sOme "Wildfires" on this album, as well as a couple of "Renegades" called '"Changing Woman" and the title cut, "Flowing Free Forever". His country material is poor, his pop/rocklgreat, so Murphy ends up in the middle with three stars. \

This album came very close to four stars, but completely useless songs like "Arrested While Driving Blind", "Snappy Kakkie", and "Pan Am Highway Blues", fixed Z Z Top once more at three stars (their last, Fandango, was also a

,three star effort, ruin- -ed by the self—indulgent

"live" side).

The style which Z Z Top has settled on is very basic rock 'n' roll with each song

'structured exactly alike.

They sing two verses, and tMnmemmwan.mm the lyrics enclosed, this style becomes too obvious and tiresome.

Even so, there are some .new sounds for Z Z Top on Tejas, the most striking :being "Asleep At The Desert" ja‘ smooth-flowing, acoust- 5ical instrumental. The 'guitar work is exceptional 'and a welcome change from

‘the rest of the album.

.Other notables are "E1 Diablo",featuring an effective Spanish guitar 'sytle, and "Ten Dollar Man" 1the best of the rockers. Too much of this album shows no progression whatsoeverifor Z Z Top “and a few changes besides the two evidenced above would have been welcome.
