Dear Editor,

I have recieved a number of complaints because of the absence of VIEW FRQI THE TOP in our student Union News— paper. The bottom line as to why the bi—weekly does not appear in 9315 Student Union Newspaper is that we can't be bothered spending a lot ~of time preparing article that won'tbe printed. You see, half of the articles that are sub- mitted are vetoed by the editor. She does not go by any set standard or code to base ‘her opinions and it often looks like double standards to all of us. A certain word or phrase may be omitted in a joke and often ruins the whole joke. However they will still print the rest of the joke, thus making the writers look foolish.

The next week we will see that same word or phrase in somebody else's art— ' icle. We have documented proof of this. Also, even when she does say that something will be print— ed, we still cannot be sure it will reach

print. Often it doesn't. But she doesn't do it be— cause she hates Engineers — she does it because she values her job. Apparent- ly somebody in our Stu— dent Union feels they must protect us from Ourselves. They told her to make sure 9_u_r news— paper is kept pure and clean and neat. However, they left out two things that go along with this -- very boring and out of touch. Just about everybody knows and agree that this is true. But due to a few wimpish art-

sies and professors as well as over—protective outsiders, many articles that are humourous, inter esting and never boring don't reach print! Why? Because somebody is afraid of someone or something. Well, all I can say is either grow up or go home wimp(s) .

Many of us work hard at our studies and we feel that all this ser— iousness is enough for uor life. I find that

debauchery. However they won't let us read a fun- ny joke about it. I'm sure a joke or article

on the subject is far less harmful than the actual

I am paying damn good money, all of it my own, to go here and read our newspapers, so leave i_t_to us. And' to whoever is protecting us from ourselves, do as I said earlier. Besides, what better way than through our newspapers for us to' prove to you that Engineers Rule the World!

Dear Editor,

I would like this oppor- tunity to cormend the students of UPEI for the outstanding voter turnout in the student elections held March 9. It seems that finally the students are taking an active role in student issues.

I would also like to commend the other pres- idential candidates for the good campains that were run and I am looking forward to their input in the upcoming year.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ronalda Murphy and Cynthia King for the help and support they gave me in my entrance into student politics, I would also like to thank the students who supported me and assure all the students of UPEI good representation and an open Student Union in the upcoming year.

I am optimistic for the upcoming year after meeting with the other members of the executive. I hope the students share my optimism. I would once again like to
