A despatch from Fort Garry, Manitoba, says that the ministry has been defeated on a direct motion of confidence. A new Ang- elo-French coalition ministry is formed as follows: Hon. M.A.Girard, premier ; Hon. R. A. Davies, Hon. E, H Hay, Hon. J. Dus bue, Hon. F. Ogletree. Its policy will prob- ably embrace the fixing of the qualification for representation on an extended basis, the abolition of the legislative council, an improved judiciary and the reduction of public expenditures.

minutely examined. ‘The old selfscoloured varities produce seed very freely, but the choice very sparingly, particularly the light varities. An abundance of hollow seed will be found, but good plump seed is about half the size of the pansy, and is easily dis tinguished and picked out.

Here isa story from the San Francisco Chronicle, illustrating what. the vigorous wooing of woman will accomplish: “Two years ago Joel H. Masfield having become enamoured of a certain Miss Mary Hein, and having failed to impress that young lady as favourably as he desired, met her on the street one afternoon and blazed away at her with a pistol. She was with another young man at the time. Mansfield fired three times at her. Two of the shots took effect, and for some time Miss Hein’s life was in danger. Mansfield was tried two or three times for the assault, but each time the jury disagreed, and finally, the patience

a nolle prosequi was entered. The sequel to this romantic affair is that on Monday last the County Clerk issued a marriage licence to Mr. Mansfield and Miss Hein,and during the week they were made one flesh,
