West Prince l Suburban League Meeting Held

The, West Prince Suburban Baseball League held a special meeting ,1 night at the St. Roch base ll clubhouse in con- nection with the forthcoming finals. starting next Sunday. Alugusi 5th.

"The league, consisting of Tig-- nish High school and the schooli

districts of Tignish Shore. St. Roch and St. Louis. has been in operation for the last four years and so for many of the players

of each team have developed such marked ability that they were accepted by the Prince

County "B" League only to be replaced by junior players eager to attain the same honor.

This league. of which Mr. W. D. Sumner is president. and Rev. L B. Dooley secretary. has done a noble and remarkable work for the youth of West Prince County. The parents of these boys and the local public are grateful for their achievement. A great deal of

-We have been thinking and saying that the C. & B. Juniors. although having very little power at the plate. were as fine a field- inl team as we have seen in many moons. Wednesday the boy: took on the Charlottetown Abbie Juniors and made us look like the Gallup Poll after President Truman's election. For three or four disastrous innings the C. dz B. fielders looked like the second best team from Snake Hollow. "Stumbling all. around" was their theme song and they managed to make eight errors in the first five frames. Then they settled down and played a steady though not sparkling game. The boys ap- parently need more outside com- petition.

Kensingion Child Seriously injured By Car

- Marlon MacKsy, six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Macifay. Kenalngton. is a patient in the Prince County Hospital fol- lowing an accident in whicie she was struck by a car on a Kenning- ton street about 4.30 yesterday at- lernoon. Medical reports last nlzhiv indlciited that she was on the dan- ger list and is suffering from I broken leg and broken shoulder.

She was struck by is. car driven by Mr. Desmond Callaghan, who is at present relieving the C. N.R. station agent at Kenslngton. As far as could be learned. the chud ran out from behind a tractor that was meeting the Callaghan car and was hit but not run over. The, ac.- cident occurred opposite the White Rose Service Station on the street leading out. of town towards Bum- merslde. She was immediately rushed to the Prince county Hos- pital. - s
